Stanley's mission since 1935 has been to provide quality food and great service in a casual friendly atmosphere. Whether you're here to dine, celebrate with friends or watch your favorite sporting event, we believe that our guests should feel at home when they are here, with the hopes that they will find their way back home again.
The building was built in the early 1920s but the first recorded liquor license was issued to Bill Patton in June of 1935, under the name of Bill's Place. In 1947 Stanley Minakowski move from Brown Town in Wilmington and bought the tavern and renamed it Stanley's Tavern. It very quickly became the meeting for all the locals and travelers passing by. It stayed a small local watering hole until 1972, when Bill Brooks bought the tavern and began what ended up being several additions and renovation, doubling the size of the building while still keeping the local watering hole atmosphere.
Katie was awesome! My Goose Island IPA tasted like it just came out of the brewery. My Pitmaster Special brisket sandwich was out of this world. It came with onions and jalapeños and was phenomenal!! My wife had the chicken tenders with a side of fries. Their fries are indistinguishable from Thrashers fries on the boardwalk. They are delicious!! Stanley's continues to knocking out of the ballpark!!
Stanley's continues to do a great business under tough circumstances. We always eat outside and they now have an airy, plastic patio area to eat in. They zip the food out quickly so my hamburger and fries were fine and my husband's soup and fish and chips were spot on! Go Stanley's
I ordered delivery from this place today and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the crab deviled eggs, chili, and cheesesteak egg rolls. Although that sounds simple enough, I have ordered way simpler from other places and received way worse. The crab deviled eggs had plenty of pieces of sweet lump crab, and the cheesesteak egg rolls came with a French onion dip that I would gladly pour on every dish from here on out. They also honored all of my 'special instructions' which rarely happens and the food arrived piping hot. I will be stopping in to try the entrees soon!
We live nearby and go to Stanley's rather frequently so we've missed it over the last several weeks as it was closed for renovations. It just reopened today and we went for dinner. The new renovations are AWESOME! The place looks great! Everything looks nice and clean. New hardwood floors replaced the dingy old carpet. The walls are painted a nice light color. All of the tables and chairs are brand new. The booths look brand new in a beautiful two tone brown. New and more televisions which will be great for watching sporting events. The food and service was great. The extensive salad bar remains. Looking forward to our next visit.
My mind is blown that Stanley's only has a three star review!! This place was exceptional for a local sports pub. The overall atmosphere was great - Autographs on the walls, jerseys everywhere and Eagles memorabilia as far as the eye can see. The staff was extremely friendly and patient while we took our time ordering our meals. Top it all off the food was superb. My wife and I got the ribs with two different sauces on them! My mother in law got the pork with the Carolina sauce which was amazing. I can't speak any higher of this place and I highly recommend checking it out if you are nearby.
